Welcome to the bibliographical database "Russian Culture and Gender Studies" hosted by the Institute of Slavonic Studies Freiburg. The database consists of about 25,000 records of primary and secondary sources, which can be explored by differentiated search operations.

Search
You can perform simple or combined search for title words, author name and/or key words. There is the possibility to adapt the logical connections AND or OR according to your needs. Within the search by keyword you can combine up to two key words. The keywords are arranged by thematic groups. Within the groups they are sorted alphabetically. By clicking the button “search” you start the search.

Input of diacritical signs
The data is stored in Latin alphabet; all diacritical signs are preserved. Thus, Polish records can contain ę, French records ç. For Cyrillic records we use the German scientific transliteration containing diacritical signs like š. You can input these characters either correctly (š) or without diacriticon (s), or you can use the wildcard %.
If you want to enter the diacritical signs, you can either use your custom diacritical keyboard layout, or the virtual keyboard available by clicking "special characters".

Output on screen
After clicking "search" you get a list of short quotations, from which you can select the needed records by marking them either individually or by marking the whole page. Afterwards you can view your selection in different ways: By clicking "list collection" there appears a compact list with short quotations; clicking "view collection" results in full record view.

Print
There are different possibilities to print the collection. On the one hand you can mark the result lists in your Browser and use the print function of your Browser. On the other hand you can click the Printer icon, which results in a formatted list.

Export
If you want to process your collection electronically we recommend to copy and paste the page with your preferred view. Please note that diacritical signs are correctly indicated only if you use a modern word processor (starting from Word 97 for PC, Word 2004 for Mac).

Feel free to send suggestions, comments, error messages (and records containing errors) to Achim Rabus.
